Shawn is a senior lawyer and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) based in the Sydney office of Landmark Legal. Prior to joining Landmark Legal, Shawn worked as an in-house legal counsel in a Fortune Global 500 property developer and a tax consultant at one of the Australian top 10 accounting firms. With a mix of experience in property and tax, Shawn has acted for a wide-range of corporate and HNW individual clients in all facets of property and commercial transactions, with a particular focus on structuring a deal from the tax perspective.
As a dual-qualified lawyer and Chartered Tax Adviser, Shawn always takes a commercial and pragmatic approach to any legal issues faced by all of his clients and aims to deliver legal services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Shawn has extensive and comprehensive exposure to most property and commercial law matters a property investor or developer could possibly come across in the entire lifecycle of the property development including:
- Advising property investors and developers in relation to all the various property acquisitions and disposals, project developments and “off the plan” sales;
- Advising and acting for large national retailers on retail, commercial and industrial leases;
- Stamp duty/landholder duty, land tax and GST advice on property transactions; Business & corporate structuring, including shareholders/unitholders agreements, joint venture arrangements, business/share sale agreements;
- Acting for lenders and borrowers in property financing matters; Advising on the building and construction contracts and project delivery agreements; Commercial & construction disputes and litigation.
